What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Development and Governmental Relations position at St. Clair Health?
Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, Communications & Advocacy, this position will play a leadership role in the future success of the Foundation. The Director has primary responsibility for meeting the Foundation’s goals for unrestricted and restricted support for St. Clair Health. This will be accomplished via personal solicitation and relationship management of Leadership Annual Gift and Major Gift prospects, a comprehensive Annual Giving program, donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, strategic planning and budgeting, management of the Foundation Board of Directors, securing grants and directing the daily operations of the Foundation.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
2. Five years of experience in fundraising or a related field.
3. Highly developed oral and written communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
4. Proven track record of successful fundraising via various methods, including personal solicitation.
5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
6. Past use of Virtuous or other donor management software.
7. Experience designing and implementing a comprehensive development program for grateful patients and families, Board members, community members, physicians, staff, volunteers, and vendors to meet annual goals and increase the participation of all constituencies.
8. Directs efforts to secure grants from public funding sources, and collaborates on efforts to secure grants from private funding sources.
9. Experience overseeing annual plan and budget.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in a related field.
2. Three years of experience in healthcare fundraising.

2. Personally solicits and manages relationships with Leadership Annual Gift and Major Gift prospects.
3. Develops and implements a comprehensive development program for grateful patients and families, Board members, community members, physicians, staff, volunteers, and vendors to meet annual goals and increase the participation of all constituencies.
4. Directs efforts to secure grants from public funding sources, and collaborates on efforts to secure grants from private funding sources.
5. Initiates and manages new programs to broaden the scope of the Foundation’s development operations.
6. Prospects for new donors utilizing internal and external tools to identify and communicate with potential donors.
7. Develops and commands a strong understanding of the annual development cycle, donors, and financial results. Develops an in-depth knowledge of the Foundation’s database system, utilizes data to set regular benchmarks for monitoring progress, and develops strategies to meet challenges and maximize opportunities.
8. Develops and monitors the Foundation’s annual plan, calendar, and budget. Works with the Vice President to set annual goals.
9. Directs acknowledgement process to ensure timely and accurate acknowledgement of gifts and pledges.
10. Leads relationship management of St. Clair Hospital Foundation Board of Directors
11. Takes an active role in planning and implementation of Foundation events, including the annual Summer Swing dinner/silent auction/golf classic.
12. Leads the short- and long-term planning of the Foundation.
13. Manages local government official relationships and leads advocacy for St. Clair Health
