Job Summary:
The Food Service Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of meal preparation, kitchen operations, food safety compliance, and nutritional planning for participants at all Adult Day Care facilities. This role ensures that meals meet dietary guidelines, accommodate special dietary needs, and provide a pleasant dining experience for participants. The Food Service Manager will manage kitchen staff, budget resources, maintain inventory, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibility:Menu Planning & Nutritional Oversight:
- Develop and oversee menus that comply with dietary guidelines and participant health needs.
- Work with dietitians or nutritionists to accommodate specific dietary restrictions (low sodium, diabetic-friendly, texture-modified diets, etc.).
- Ensure meal plans meet USDA, state health regulations, and Adult Day Care nutrition program guidelines.
Food Preparation & Safety Compliance:
- Supervise food preparation to ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and appealing.
· Preparing meals and assisting with prep support as needed.
- Implement and maintain strict food safety and sanitation procedures in compliance with local health department standards, HACCP, and ServSafe protocols.
- Conduct routine kitchen inspections at all Centers to ensure cleanliness and safety.
Staff Management & Training:
- Recruit, train, and manage kitchen staff, ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene protocols.
- Schedule and oversee food service employees to maintain efficiency in operations.
- Provide ongoing education and training in food handling, preparation, and customer service.
Budget & Inventory Management:
- Develop and manage food service budgets, ensuring cost-effective meal planning.
- Order and maintain inventory of food, kitchen supplies, and equipment while minimizing waste.
- Establish and maintain vendor relationships to ensure quality and cost-efficient purchasing.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Maintain records of meals served, inventory, expenses, and compliance documents.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local food service regulations, including participation in food programs like the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) if applicable.
- Address and resolve any dietary complaints or food-related concerns from participants and caregivers.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support the overall success of the organization. Responsibilities and tasks may evolve based on business needs, and employees are expected to be flexible and adaptable in fulfilling their role.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, or a related field (preferred).
- Must have the ability to cook and prepare meal
- Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of food service management experience, preferably in a healthcare, senior living, or adult day care setting.
- Certifications: Food Safety Manager Certification (ServSafe or equivalent).
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of nutrition and special dietary needs (diabetic, heart-healthy, texture modifications).
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Budgeting, inventory control, and food procurement experience.
- Ability to create menus that are both nutritious and cost-effective.
- Strong understanding of state and federal regulations related to food service in adult care facilities.
Work Environment:
- Schedule: Typically, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekends for special events.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 lbs when handling food supplies.
- Work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $56,300.00 - $60,561.00 per year
