Job Description
The Director of St. Francis Creche Preschool oversees the daily operations of the Creche school including all hiring, inspiration, supervision, and evaluation of the Creche staff. The successful candidate will be a highly-motivated individual who, above all else, truly loves working with young children and who appreciates and values their uniqueness. The Director must respect the dedication and talent of the Creche teachers and always strive to advocate for and empower them. Flexibility is required as changes in daily routines are constant. The Director shall establish strong communication to ensure that the parents, students, and teachers work together to maintain our supportive and nurturing community at the Creche.
The goal of the St. Francis Creche is to provide love, support, and an exceptional preschool education to all children ages 2 to 5 in a stimulating and caring environment, reflecting the appreciation of cultural, racial, socio-economic, and religious diversity. Our program is built on a strong foundation for the learning and character development of the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual child. Our students are encouraged to develop their fullest potential by participating in social and emotional skill building, prayer, play, creative arts, science, music, and cognitive activities. We know all children are created in the image of God and believe in each child’s individual potential to learn, participate, and contribute to the needs of our world.
Key Responsibilities (more detail upon request)
- Establish the curriculum and program calendar to include Chapel curriculum, after school programming, and summer camps.
- Recruit, hire, and lead orientation training of all staff.
- Oversee special programs to include music, physical education, special events, and other opportunities.
- Oversee all social media, marketing and public relations activities with a focus on growing enrollment.
- Communicate with parents on program activities and student progress.
- Act as a consultant to staff regarding classroom management and conferences.
- Develop and administers the Creche budget in coordination with the Creche Treasurer for approval by the Creche Board and St. Francis Vestry.
- Oversee the enrollment and admissions process; manages employment contracts; coordinates with regulatory and review agencies ensuring compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in early childhood education/development or related field.
- Min 6 years’ experience in early childhood education to include curriculum development, proven leadership, supervisory, written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to lead and motivate others; demonstrates listening skills, objectivity, confidentiality, and ability to relate effectively with staff, parents, students, and Creche Board members in an Episcopal School setting.
- Desired: Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, or Business /Education Administration
