ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Campus Security
- Monitor and secure the entrances and exits during the evening.
- Perform interior and exterior rounds throughout the night. Observe staff during shift changes. Assist staff and residents as requested with security and safety concerns.
- Maintain an accurate nightly security log and safety violations log.
- Document and report any unusual or suspicious incidents.
- Fill out security incident reports as necessary, and inform management when/if serious issues arise.
- Complete assigned Daily, Weekly, and Monthly preventative maintenance checklist duties.
- This may include but is not limited to: Fire extinguisher checks, Fire door function checks, physical security device checks, Exit sign and emergency egress light checks, conducting of Night time Fire Drills, etc..
- Conducting inspections and identifying hazards and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) violations, perform incident investigations and assist in corrective actions.
- Assist with and conduct job hazard analysis, and recommend preventative/corrective action where EH&S hazards exist.
- Interact with all departments to assist with EH&S issues.
- Assist with training of employees on EH&S programs.
- Complete assigned Daily, Weekly, and Monthly preventative maintenance checklist duties.
- Conduct minor maintenance and report needed repairs beyond skill level to appropriate individuals to assure the plant and equipment are maintained in a quality manner that meets and/or exceeds state and federal guidelines.
- This may include but is not limited to assessing and repairing minor issues with non-functioning doors; plunging, snaking and/or shutting off non-functioning toilets; assisting with water and chemical spills; assessing and minor repair to other non-functioning equipment.
- Must be willing to shovel snow, de-ice sidewalks, and operate snow removal equipment up to and including a plow truck with sander. Training will be provided if needed.
- Monitor and adjust controls that regulate building systems, such as air conditioning, furnace, or boiler. Conduct troubleshooting of systems for minor repair and report issues to maintenance personnel.
- Respond to and address special facility needs identified and requested by staff and residents.
- This may include but is not limited to: Responding to calls for assistance with upset and/or aggravated residents, residents who have fallen, injuries to staff members, etc..
- Respond to all Fire and Security Alarms that occur on property and assist staff with evacuation of residents, if needed.
- Conduct assigned and required education with staff members who work the evening and night shifts as requested.
- This may include but is not limited to: How to responding to fires, evacuation processes, other just-in-time emergency response processes, OSHA required safety follow-up education when finding violations while conducting rounds.
- Monitor for parking and speeding violations through-out the campus.
- Assist with projects as directed by supervisors.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Works under the supervision of the Campus Safety and Security Supervisor.
- Obeys safety rules of St. John's United
- Identifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards
- Attends mandatory safety in-services

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Requirements
- Must be knowledgeable in physical security functions.
- Must be proficient in use of MS Word and Excel programs
- Preferred knowledge of general maintenance duties
- Must be dependable and have the ability to work independently
- A minimum of 1 year experience in a security position is desired.
- Must have the ability to be licensed as a Private Security Guard in Montana
- Ability to understand verbal instructions.
- Ability to understand written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
- Ability to understand and follow safety policies and procedures.
