St. John’s School is seeking a full-time Theatre teacher. The ideal candidate will enjoy working primarily with middle school students (grades 6-8). Theatre teachers at St. John’s work together to create a cohesive curriculum that builds from Middle to Upper School. Primary responsibilities:
- Teach Middle School Theatre Electives
- Serve as an advisor
- Direct (1-2) after-school theatre productions a year within the Middle and Upper School Theatre programs
- Collaborate and coordinate closely with the theatre, dance, and music faculty
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Theatre/Theatre Education; Master’s or Master of Fine Arts degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience
- Experience in classroom theatre curriculum and directing theatre for young audiences
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience with playwriting, technical theatre or film production a plus
