Performs intermediate, skilled clerical work involving the operation of the truck scales at the Regional Landfill; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
The hiring range for this position is $18.55/hour to $25.51/hour based on experience.
The full salary range for this position is from $18.55/hour to $32.47/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.
Operates the truck scale to determine weights of incoming refuse/recyclables, including start-up and close-out; Oversees facility operations, monitoring activities, and enforces rules.
Calculates and collects fees;
Maintains and balances cash drawer;
Handles sales transactions for the use of the landfill;
Prepares and maintains daily records;
Verifies current permit holders and authorization to use Regional Landfill;
Maintains adequate tare weight records per permitted truck;
Assists landfill supervisor in preparing necessary reports;
Performs routine maintenance on scale related equipment;
Opens and closes facility to traffic;
Checks and directs vehicles entering the landfill;
Answers the telephone, takes messages, and provides information;
Cleans and maintains the scale house; and
Performs related tasks as required.Thorough knowledge in the operation of a large truck scale; ability to use a calculator; ability to understand and use computer related equipment; ability to make simple arithmetic calculations; ability to handle public funds and maintain adequate records; ability to understand and follow specific written and oral instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and experience in the operation of a large truck scale.
