The Risk Management Division (RMD) was created by the NM Legislature to protect and conserve the state's human and physical resources and financial assets. RMD provides multi-line insurance coverage programs, employee health benefits programs, loss prevention and control initiatives, dispute prevention and resolution services, and legal defense for the State of New Mexico. The depth and breadth of RMD's programs is substantial and reaches across all of state government. Covered entities include state agencies and employees, boards and commissions, schools and universities, and participating school districts and local public bodies. These covered entities are diverse in their composition and concerns, and present new challenges in an ever-changing risk environment; they also present opportunities for creative strategies and leveraging of existing resources. RMD proudly serves the following customers; State Employees, Local Public Bodies, Public Schools and Institutions of Higher Education.

The position performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility under the RMD/Property and Loss Control Bureau (PAC).

Minimum Qualification
Associate degree and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
The work is performed primarily in an office/workstation setting, with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. In state travel is required.

How does it get done?
- Monitor PAC e-mail portal continuously throughout the day to ensure timely response to submitted claims and inquiries.
- Efficiently monitor and process incoming claims through our designated portal, ensuring adherence to established guidelines.
- Thoroughly review claims for timely notice, appropriate coverage type, insured entity verification, duplication, and proper routing to Property Casualty or Legal bureaus.
- Process initial claim denials for non-insured parties and untimely notices.
- Conduct thorough research on existing claim files to identify relevant information and facilitate claim processing.
- Direct general inquiries to appropriate departments or individuals for timely resolution.
