Salary

$16.79 - $26.87 Hourly

$34,932 - $55,891 Annually

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within 2 weeks of the closing date.

Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position Is to investigate and enforce compliance of the insurance coverage
requirements of the New Mexico Workers' Compensation Act for the Farmington Field Office region.

How does it get done?

  • Investigate and conduct interviews and research of businesses to determine if Workers'
Compensation insurance is required.
  • Educate business owners on the Workers' Compensation Act and assist them with getting in
compliance.
  • Thoroughly and accurately document case notes and activity Including results of field visits and
face-to-face interactions.
  • Prepare accurate reports for court hearings and provide testimony as needed.
  • Conduct outreach regarding Compliance rules and regulations and partner with other agency programs
during outreach functions.

Employers/Business owners, workers, and other bureaus within the agency.

Ideal Candidate

Experience in conducting investigations/interviews.
Knowledge of research methods.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, rules and statutes. Proficient with Microsoft 365.

Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Work Is performed in an office setting with exposure to VisualNideo Display Terminal (VDT) and
extensive personal computer, data entry and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, lifting
and reaching may be required. Ability to complete assignments with a high level of accuracy within
strict time constraints. Must be able to lift 25 - 30 lbs. Occasional travel may be required. Some
field investigative work may be required including visiting businesses in person and public
speaking during outreach functions..
