Introduction

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of Transportation System Development, Bureau of Traffic Operations is seeking a Civil Engineer Transportation Supervisor .

This position can be headquartered in :

  • Madison at the Hill Farms Office Building, 4822 Madison Yards Way
  • Madison at the BTO Sign Shop, 3609 Pierstorff Street
  • Milwaukee at the Intermodel Station, 433 W. St. Paul Ave
  • Wisconsin Rapids at 1681 2nd Ave S.

This position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from one of the locations above at least 3 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are still expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

    Position Summary

    This position supervises the Traffic Analysis and Safety Unit in the Traffic Engineering and Safety Section of the Bureau of Traffic Operations (BTO). This position is responsible for managing the bureau's traffic analysis, safety engineering and traffic incident management / emergency traffic operations programs. This position manages the development and implementation of program work plans and budgets.

    As a member of the bureau management team, this position performs highly responsible engineering and managerial work involving the formulation, development, implementation and evaluation of program, policy budgetary and organizational components for the Department's traffic engineering and traffic operations programs. The diversity, complexity, and potential impact of the unit's programs require technical expertise, excellent communication skills and thorough engineering knowledge. This position coordinates within the Department, with other agencies, FHWA and emergency responders.

    Salary Information

    This position is in schedule-range (81-30) with an annual salary of $104,000-$118,456, plus excellent benefits . A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

For permanent positions that allow remote work flexibility, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.

    A qualified candidate will have the following :

  • A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if the PE registration is from another state.
