General Summary
The safety coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs within the Manufacturing site(s), ensuring compliance with relevant regulations like OSHA standards, by conducting inspections, identifying potential hazards, providing safety training to employees, investigating accidents, and recommending corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment across all levels of the company; they essentially work to prevent workplace injuries and promote a strong safety culture.
Additional duties may be assigned to the individual to assist with the implementation, and monitoring of the
StatLab Quality Management System (QMS) to meet ISO 13485 and 21 CFR Part 820 regulatory
requirements and organizational goals.
Duties and Responsibilities (essential duties are italicized)
1. Provides support the development and implementation of EHS management compliance programs for StatLab.
2. Evaluates hazards for safety, health, and environmental risks.
3. Develops safety procedures and programs for StatLab activities and monitors safety
compliance to reduce risks.
4. Develops inspection programs and establish regular inspection schedules.
5. Conducts accident investigations and communicates process including the identification of root causes.
6. Implements training and tools necessary to ensures that reports on EHS incidents and performance are submitted on a timely basis, and that corrective actions are taken.
7. Establishes EHS performance goals and reviews performance against those goals.
8. Identifies training requirements and coordinates training sessions for EHS regulatory requirements – DOT, Spill Response, and Hazardous Waste Management, etc.
9. Ensures required records are kept available according to regulatory and StatLab requirements
10. Supports EHS Manager with the StatLab Safety Policy and Manual, Environmental Quality plans and ensures EHS policies and procedures are developed, updated, implemented, and followed.
11. Drives the implementation of programs and initiatives necessary to foster a strong EHS culture.
12. Supports in maintaining a site business continuity plan including emergency response call tree.
13. Performs in a manner consistent with company Core Values and Purpose.
14. Demonstrates independent thinking and initiative on a consistent and regular basis.
15. Exercises discretion and independent judgment on significant matters.
16. Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines.
17. Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times.
18. Ability to manage any stress on the job, including but not limited to meeting deadlines.
1. Adheres to company safety standards at all times, such that no serious (requiring medical attention) injury occurred during the prior 12-month period.
2. Position will support multiple US facilities and will be responsible for all US employees safety.
3. This position is responsible for workers comp management and the OSHA log.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
1. A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related subject area from an accredited institution, university or college.
2. Broad based knowledge of Environmental, Occupational Health, and Safety regulations.
3. A minimum of five years of experience working with EHS compliance and management systems preferably within facility operations.
4. EHS experience in Chemical, Manufacturing, research or maintenance operations is highly desirable.
5. Success working with subcontractors/vendors supporting mutual safety objectives.
6. Experience in writing technical documentation, procedures, and work instructions.
7. Fluently speak, read, and write English. Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus.
8. Ability to drive and inspect both outdoor and indoor areas to observe compliance with established programs.
9. Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision.
10. Skilled in time management and managing multiple simultaneous tasks.
11. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
12. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: walking; bending; pushing; pulling; sitting for extended periods of time at a desk using a computer, phone and headset; and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 25 pounds.
13. Ability to manage stress.
14. Must work from the corporate office and be able to work on time on a regular basis during regular business hours.
15. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is exposed to computers and general office equipment approximately 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time will be working in the production facility where the noise level is high.
This position is onsite. The pay range for this position is $71,000- $85,000 with an annual bonus potential of 5%
