The Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician I is responsible for the verifying product process checks including weights, physical attributes, proper product assembly, PC or CCP, correct packaging and all qulaity check points. This position is also responsible for understanding Quality Management Systems including SQF, HACCP, and GMP to ensure safety and quality of employees and products. The job duties include responsibility for assuring food safety and quality for Steven Charles products. This position is responsible for reporting any issues or threats related to food safety or quality to QA or production supervisor.

The Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician I is responsible for the verifying product process checks including weights, physical attributes, proper product assembly, PC or CCP, correct packaging and all qulaity check points. Your Day-to-Day
- Performs process check verifications such as weight, height, width, length, diameter, perfect packaging etc on food samples at established frequency.
- Checks all CCP and other preventive controls such as temperature, metal and X-ray detectors timely to ensure food product safety.
- Checks the quality check points on different food product lines accurately and at established frequency to ensure compliance.
- Performs product reviews and sensory evaluation for taste, appearance and flavor on the production line.
- Aseptically collects food ingredients and finished food product samples for both microbiological laboratory and retain samples.
- Performs pre-op inspection on machines right the first time and swabbing to ensure machines are adequately cleaned and ready for production.
- Completes the required daily paperwork and ensure accuracy in data entry.
- Communicates to leads and supervisors when product is outside of established limits. Follow instructions for increased monitoring or holding of product until the defect is corrected or reworked.
- Ensures that all work assigned is performed in accordance with written specifications, instructions, and requirements.
- Monitors labels to ensure they meet regulatory and customer requirements such as weights, inkjet, expiration date, lot codes, product identification and other requirements.
- Conducts in-house basic hygiene, GMP and food safety audits on assigned production lines to ensure compliance.
- Performs all other duties as necessary..
What You Bring to the Team
- Ability to interpret and follow SOP’s (standard operating procedures), instructions, Quality Management Software system.
- High School Diploma, GED or prior experience in food safety and quality.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programs
- Complete a report accurately. • Strong attention to details • Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills
- Available to work on weekends and overtime

- Experience in a production environment
- The ability to attend work on time with few absences

- Display strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work in cooperation with others

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is expected to stand for at least 10 hours per day.
- Use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms
- Stoop, kneel or bend
- Employee must lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and is required to ask for assistance if weight is exceeded
- Must be able to push/pull up to 45 pounds and is required to ask for assistance if weight is exceeded
- Must be able to keep eyes focused on product issues on conveyer belt for at least 10 hours a day (intermittently)
- Able to stay focused in a loud working environment
