What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Drafting and Estimating Supervisor position at Stevens Industries Inc?
Stevens Industries is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CAD Drafter and Estimating Supervisor to oversee our cabinetry manufacturing company's drafting and estimating departments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring tasks are performed in accordance with company policies and procedures, developing and implementing CAD standards, and leading a team of professionals to achieve project goals and maintain high standards of accuracy and productivity. Additionally, the candidate will provide hard copy cost estimates for customer bids to distributors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage department personnel and administrative tasks, including scheduling, workflow and project prioritization.
- Lead direct reports in establishing annual goals, advising on professional development, and participating in annual performance reviews.
- Implement standard departmental processes and procedures.
- Review and quality control (QC) design drawings and bill of materials against project-specific scopes of work.
- Compile a complete list of cabinets, materials, and required modifications and assign model numbers.
- Develop and implement an online drafting and estimating manual.
- Lead team members by example through detailed documentation, concise designs, accurate calculations, innovative solutions, and prompt turnaround.
- Achieve AWI (architectural Woodwork Institute) certification within the first year.
- Assist with creating standards for pricing and keeping buyout vender pricing current.
- Provide Hard copy cost estimates for customer bids and distributors.
- Quoting system maintenance.
- Train direct reports on processes and the systems software.
1. Requires special knowledge in Building Trades, normally acquired through two years of college, vocational, or technical school training resulting in an Associate’s Degree.
2. Two years of previous experience in cabinet assembly preferred.
3. Ability to read complex documents, such as construction documents, financial agreements, or government regulations.
4. Ability to compose written communication to express complex information requiring a high degree of analysis and creativity.
5. Ability to perform computations or analyses using basic statistical, financial, or logical concepts.
6. Ability to make decisions and/or final recommendations which routinely affect multiple departments, divisions, or the entire organization.
7. Advanced experience in AutoCAD, technical design documentation, engineering specifications, and procedures.
8. Knowledge of standard commercial construction practices.
9. Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and proper judgment under pressure.
10. Ability to meet strict internal and external timelines/milestones.
11. Ability to effectively provide, receive, and respond positively to constructive feedback.
12. Ability to produce professional documents, including spreadsheets, correspondence, and emails.
