STG, Inc. is Hiring a Remote Crane Operator

STG Inc Regular JOB SUMMARY: Alaska Crane is a subsidiary of STG Incorporated (herein referred to as “STG” or “Company”) that performs call-out and contract crane services using cranes ranging from 28-ton boom trucks to 660-ton crawlers. The Crane Operator is responsible for operating various types of cranes on a wide variety of short-term construction jobs and extended term projects. The Crane Operator must be highly skilled in crane operation and rigging as well as working with a variety of heavy equipment and smaller company vehicles. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for the safe operation of various types of boom trucks and cranes at all times; Inspect equipment and all lifting gear prior to each use to ensure it is in safe and proper working order. Assures all lifts are within load limits of equipment and correctly rigged. Stay constantly aware of any external conditions and surroundings that could affect crane operation. Operate crane and equipment in a safe, precise and efficient manner. Assemble, set up and rig the cranes properly. Function as rigger/signal person depending on work and staff at hand. Operate and determine lifting capabilities in accordance to load chart. Operate crane according to written, verbal or signal instruction. Inspect crane for safety standards and report concerns and deficiencies. Complete job tickets, crane inspection reports, and other necessary paperwork. Operate other types of equipment, fleet trucks and trailers. Follow directives from supervisor, and anyone senior, with the sense of duty to take initiative and remain productive at work. Perform trade for long hours, day after day, often in adverse conditions, to complete the project at hand. Maintain consistent and punctual attendance. Perform physical labor that requires considerable use of one’s arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials at construction sites. Work as a “team-player” with co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner. Seek and participate in development and training opportunities. Perform preventative maintenance such as performing lube work, cleaning parts, taking fluid samples, replenishing fluids, inspecting components and parts for proper operation, damage or wear, etc. Repair and replace components and parts as need on heavy equipment. Clean up and maintenance of yard/shop as needed. Conduct oneself in the best interest of the company while on the job or representing STG/Alaska Crane. Report any incident, situation or activity that may affect the company’s ability to operate safely, ethically and profitably to the company Risk Manager. Act as a team member and mentor less experienced coworkers. Maintain any required certifications mandatory by law or company policy. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Intermediate and progressive knowledge of all aspects of crane operation and rigging, including operating, control, and maintenance. Knowledge of crane and construction industry with ability to stay up to date on industry regulations and best practices. Knowledge of construction and crane operation safety protocols and best practices. Precise skills operating and controlling cranes ranging from 28 to 100 tons, with the ability to become skilled in larger cranes. Skill in inspecting cranes and rigging equipment for safety and maintenance purposes. Effective professional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines and general time management. Excellent analytical and forecasting skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Ability to observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate action beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly. Able to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; plan for additional resources; set goals and objectives; develop realistic action plans. Able to follow instructions, respond to direction, and be accountable for own actions. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to work in a team environment, take direction from supervisor(s), high degree of attention to details, follow work rules, and adhere to project schedule. Ability to work productively under pressure. Ability to do business ethically with customers, vendors, and co-workers. Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work with or without direct supervision. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, regulations, instruction manuals, blueprints, and specifications. Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to participate in group meetings. Ability to travel for work-related purposes (up to 50% of the time). Ability to meet attendance requirements and work a flexible schedule as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Crane Operator Certification required. Rigger/Signalperson Certification preferred. Minimum of three years’ experience with progressive crane operation. Experience operating large, hydraulic cranes preferred. Valid Class A driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company’s Driving Policy. Current DOT Medical Card. Ability to pass employment drug, driving record and background screening. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. STG has a fast-paced multi-tasking office environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. The employee must exercise flexibility with regard to last minute requests for project support and varied workloads that may require traveling to various locations and/or remote environments. At times, there may be a need for occasional weekend and/or evening work in order to meet deadlines. Continuously: eye/hand coordination (foot), fine manipulation, close vision (clear at 20" or less), distance vision (clear at 20' or more), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up & down or to the left & right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances & spatial relationships), ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object in to sharp focus), thinking analytically, using effective verbal communication, handling stress & emotions, concentrating on tasks, remember details, making decisions, adjusting to changes, examining/observing details, sharp objects/tool, heavy machinery, dirty (soil), dry, fumes, gases, odors, dust, grease, oil, mud, moving mechanical parts, noise, vibration.
