Resident Services Coordinator (Tonopah)

Position Description/Summary:

The Resident Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating services for the residents of assigned low-income properties, acting as a liaison and advocate for residents when seeking services, maintaining access to services, collecting, and compiling resident and service provider data and participating in strategic planning to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and positive impact of coordinated services, and creating reports according to compliance regulations and due dates. The Resident Services Coordinator reports to the Community Manager at Blue Bird Property (BBP) and will work in a full-time position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performance of these functions is the reason the job exists. Assigned job tasks/duties are not limited to the essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Advises residents and families of the services that may be necessary to maintain unit residency.
  • Assists all residents of assigned properties in obtaining community services and benefits, monitors services provided, and conducts follow-up communication with service providers.
  • Acts as a liaison between community agencies, service providers, property management, and residents.
  • Advocates and negotiates on behalf of residents for adequate, timely, and cost-effective provision of services and encourages/motivates residents to engage with providers and actively participate in their own care/services management.
  • Completes reports in an accurate and timely manner, according to compliance regulations.
  • Regularly meets with property manager, maintenance staff, and other relevant property staff to consider issues that arise which may affect residents or discuss any changes in the resident selection plan or facility rules.
  • Develops and sustains partnerships/working relationships with the Area Agency on Aging, the Aging and Disability Resource Connection, community-based supportive service providers, and other community stakeholders.
  • Performs case management activities/assessments, such as collecting specific personal, medical, financial, and social data from residents and follows up as needed.
  • Assists residents with new technology, such as online recertifications for housing, applying for benefits and services, and gathering information.
  • Uses assessment information to develop resident service plans for each resident; uses assessment information to develop a property-wide profile of property demographics, resident needs, and available community-based services annually.
  • Performs mandatory reporting of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of property residents in compliance with mandatory reporting laws and procedures.
  • Performs outreach to new residents via written and/or phone communication and hosts a monthly meet and greet event.
  • Answers calls and emails from the community requesting information and guidance for housing, services, and benefits.
  • Maintains an accurate, up-to-date, and complete resource directory with all local service providers.
  • Pursues avenues for additional services.
  • Documents contact with residents, providers, and families.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential records and files.

Qualifications:

  • The Resident Services Coordinator should be an enthusiastic, motivated self-starter, can work independently and have a professional demeanor when working with all staff, owners, lenders, investors, vendors, business partners, property residents, and the public while maintaining confidentiality and using discretion. Ability to do research and work independently without supervision, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work-related experience.
  • Ability to obtain valid Nevada State driver’s license within 30-days of accepting offer.
  • Language Ability:Must possess the ability to type complex documents efficiently and accurately and/or reports; read, understand, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, and guidelines relative to the operations of the business; Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, & Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment within a complex and changing organization and adapt to changes in structure and work priorities.
  • Ability to work quickly, identify issues of materiality, and make decisions within their authority.
  • Willingness to learn, seek advice, and take direction when appropriate from coworkers, managers, & others.
  • Ability to problem-solve and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Preferences:
    • Experience with affordable financing/subsidy structures such as Rural Development, HUD, Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), HOME, AHP, CDBG.
    • Experience working within RealPage or a similar property management software.

Working Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Travel Requirements: 10%.

Work is typically performed in a normal, climatically controlled office environment with limited exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, noise, or odors. Interruptions to planned work activities occur frequently. Some travel may be required for this position, while most will be local for business related errands and supplies it may be necessary at times to travel for training purposes which may require an overnight stay. In addition, it is necessary to timely respond to emergency related communications from residents, staff, or vendors after hours and on weekends. Walking is required for property tours and may expose Resident Services Coordinator to weather conditions.

Physical and Mental Demands:

Employee must have the ability to appropriately handle stress and interact with others, including supervisors, coworkers, clients, and customers. Regular and consistent punctuality and attendance are required. Employee must possess the strength, dexterity, and coordination to use a computer keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods. Employee must be able to bend, stoop, sit, and stand for long periods of time; handle files, office supplies and single pieces of paper; occasionally lift files, stacks of paper, office equipment, small/medium-sized boxes and other materials. Employee must be able to reach, bend, squat, and stoop to access items above and below desk level, plus load in and out of vehicles; manual dexterity and cognitive ability to operate a personal computer, as well as office equipment, and to communicate effectively via telephone and email. Employee must be able to safely lift items, materials, supplies, equipment of up to 25 pounds, with or without the assistance of a hand truck or cart. There may be occasions that require climbing stairs or walking on uneven ground while carrying materials, supplies, equipment, or other items.
