A Central New York manufacturer of cutting-edge manufacturing equipment is searching for an Accounting Supervisor to help lead their Syracuse Parts Distribution Center Accounting Team. The Accounting Supervisor provides financial information to management and works collaboratively with multiple functional areas to solve problems and achieve organizational goals. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all work is completed by the Accounting Team accurately and on schedule. Follows procedures, policy and/or guidelines but is expected to modify procedures/practices as needed. Decisions made by the Accounting Supervisor are not typically subject to check and can have a significant impact on the results of the Accounting department and the greater company as a whole. This role is eligible for a hybrid work assignment working 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely.
In this role, you will:
- Lead major-complex projects and process improvements.
- Operate cross-functionally in a collaborative manner within and outside of the organization to resolve sensitive, complex issues with professionalism and urgency.
- Research unusual entries and general ledger balances.
- Prepare various reports for distribution to management within deadlines.
- Aid in completion of month-end closing activities including preparation of standard/non-standard journal entries for income, balance sheet statements including prepaid licenses, subscription billing, deferred revenue and other accounting reports.
- Manage multiple direct reports. Oversee employee relations, output accuracy and timeline.
- Provide direction to individuals/department and assists in resolving problems.
- Implements employee relations techniques and resolves personnel issues.
- Propose accounting process improvement and oversee implementation.
- Maintains records of financial documents with appropriate supporting material.
- Follows procedures, policies and/or guidelines for decisions but is expected to modify procedures/practices as needed.
About you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- 6 years of multi-faceted accounting, project management, and business-related experience.
- Operates in a strategic, creative, positive, and inclusive manner.
- Strong time management, technical, and organizational skills.
- Can provide and receive feedback in a professional solution focused manner.
- Superior communication and attention to detail.
- Able to present comfortably to leadership.
It would be great if you had:
- Master’s Degree in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Prior leadership experience.
- SAP or ERP system experience.
- Broad working knowledge of various accounting standards and guidelines such as: US GAAP, JSOX, IAS, and IFRS.
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
