We are seeking an entry-level Metallurgical/Materials engineer for our rapidly growing Materials Engineering Practice. The practice provides full-spectrum materials engineering support to companies around the world including materials selection, fabrication, corrosion engineering, welding, fitness for service evaluations, and failure analysis. Much of our work involves upstream and offshore oil and gas facilities, midstream pipelines, downstream refining and chemical plants, renewable energy sources and the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities
This position is expected to start as a supporting role to a senior metallurgical engineer and other engineers at SES but would expand over time into direct consulting for external clients.
The successful candidate must have the desire to build a successful engineering practice in a dynamic, work-oriented environment.
They will interface with clients, prepare technical proposals and reports, and work either individually or on a team to solve client’s problems.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Master's of Science in Metallurgical/Materials Engineering from an ABET accredited University with a strong educational background in ferrous metallurgy.
- Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work productively in a cross-functional team.
- Ability and willingness to regularly handle a diverse and dynamic set of challenges to solve critical and time-sensitive issues.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
- Licensed professional engineer or the ability to become registered.
- Ability and willingness to travel on occasion and work in a variety of environments including refineries, power plants, offshore platforms, and industrial shops.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Metallurgical/Materials Engineering from an ABET accredited University with a strong educational background in ferrous metallurgy.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in metallurgical engineering related to the energy or aerospace industry.
- Research or work experience with materials in the renewable energy sector such as carbon capture/sequestration or hydrogen storage and usage.
- Research or work experience with additive manufacturing processes is a plus.
