Position available at our K-8 campus. (4101 North Tryon Street; Charlotte, NC 28206)
**please note this position begins full time ASAP**
In the absence of the regular classroom teacher; the substitute is expected to help students to learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons and to provide meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms. Must be highly flexible and willing to be a part of an environment where everyone takes ownership for the success of all of the students and contributes in whatever way they can be most effective toward that end.
Face to face instruction: Our substitute teachers are constantly engaged with our students and expected to be actively monitoring what is happening in their classroom. When our substitutes are not assigned to fill in for a teacher they are actively engaged in other duties around the school in all areas of the building helping where needed. We are looking for individuals who will be up walking around and monitoring the students. This isn't a just sit and down and give out work packets kind of position. We look for our subs to engage with the students, review information and reteach, if necessary.
Our substitute teachers are considered a part of the regular teaching faculty. As a part of the school community our substitute teachers are expected to participate in professional development, required after school activities throughout the school year and other duties assigned to classroom teachers. Substitutes are expected to fully participate in staff development so that they can implement the strategies and policies in their classroom as a substitute.
This is a regular full time staff position.
Hours are 7:30-4:00 M-F.

Bachelor's degree and experience working with groups of children in an educational setting preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in an urban school environment. Preferred candidates will have some classroom experience working with groups of children in an educational setting. While this is K-8 school our substitutes mainly serve upper elementary and middle school and at times may be asked to help out at the 9-12 level. Preferred candidates will have more experience working with older children than with younger ones. We are actively seeking candidates with experience with upper elementary and middle school aged students. We are interested in finding individuals with a clear understanding of Mathematical concepts.
