Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Optometry Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding and timely submission of claims to insurance companies. This role requires a strong understanding of medical billing procedures, coding systems, and the ability to navigate various medical records efficiently.
Duties
- Review and verify patient information and insurance coverage for accuracy.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies using appropriate coding systems such as ICD-10 and DRG.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, resolving any discrepancies or issues that may arise during the billing process.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper coding and billing practices are followed.
- Conduct medical collections as necessary, communicating effectively with patients regarding their accounts.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies to ensure compliance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Optometry billing, coding, or related fields is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical coding systems including ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG, and other relevant coding methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of medical records management and healthcare reimbursement processes.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
