What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lube Technician position at Sunflower Paving, Inc.?
We are seeking a reliable Lube and Service Technician to perform essential preventative maintenance, lubrication services, and light repairs on construction equipment in our shop. This role supports the efficient operation of our fleet by ensuring that all equipment is regularly serviced and in optimal condition. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and basic mechanical skills, preferably with experience in construction or heavy equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine lubrication and oil changes on construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, bulldozers, and trucks.
- Inspect and replace fluids, filters, and grease points according to manufacturer specifications and company maintenance schedules.
- Conduct safety checks on equipment, including fluid levels, brakes, tires, lights, and other critical systems.
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks including air filter replacements, tire rotations, battery checks, and other minor repairs.
- Monitor equipment for signs of wear or damage and report potential issues to senior technicians or supervisors.
- Maintain accurate service records for all equipment, detailing the services performed, parts replaced, and any issues found.
- Assist senior mechanics with more complex repairs and diagnostics when needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored after use.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies in the shop environment.
- Support shop operations by ensuring that fluids, oils, and grease are in stock and organized.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Experience as a lube technician or in a similar role, preferably working with construction equipment or diesel vehicles (Preferred)
- Basic mechanical knowledge of engines, hydraulics, and vehicle systems.
- Ability to use hand tools and lubrication equipment such as grease guns and oil pumps.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Ability to lift heavy parts and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Good organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license (Required)
