Little Learners Vision:
Little Learners not only provides childcare but is often the first-place young children experience being in a multicultural social context, having never been outside of their parents' or guardians’ care and prior to attending school. These young children come through our door, perhaps not knowing any English. For some, it is their second or third language. Little Learners strives to care for children through the fostering of their social and linguistic development.
Little Learner Coordinator (LLC):
The Little Learner Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the childcare program following the Little Learner’s Mission: Nurturing children as they develop English language and social skills in a multicultural environment. The LLC will manage, train, and support the IRCNoCo staff, volunteers, and work-study staff who care for children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, while their parents attend IRCNoCo classes. This position is responsible for working with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure proper childcare coverage for each of the classes in the program. Children’s ages range from 6 months to 12 years old. The LLC is expected to be the Classroom Lead during high-volume classes on a routine schedule. Requires daytime and some evening hours. M-TR, ~20 hours/week, for a 42-week session calendar. Terms are mid-August - December; Mid-January - Mid-May; June and July. Additional in-service days as required.
Position Summary:
With a Quality, Customer First, and Compassionate approach, The Little Learner Coordinator will:
- Maintain the overall program vision in programmatic procedures and routines.
- Work with Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, coordinate, and support volunteers and work-study staff.
- Provide weekly scheduling to ensure sufficient staffing.
- Facilitate classroom activities schedule for children ages 6 months – 12 years.
- Provide support to Classroom Childcare Leads/ Paid Staff.
- Lead high-volume classes on a routine schedule.
- Substitute for the Classroom Leads as needed.
- Oversee the child enrollment and registration process, collaborate, and communicate with Front Office Staff and Community Navigators.
- Assist in tracking attendance and manage reporting.
- Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule volunteers.
- Maintain, organize, and clean the classroom. Coordinate with building cleaners.
- Organize special community presenters such as library and art classes.
- Maintain supplies for Little Learners services, such as diapers and food.
- Notify supervisor about any equipment needs or necessary purchases.
- Communicate policies & procedures to other programs that use the space.
- Communicate any child concerns to parents and Navigators.
- Attend meetings as requested and attend monthly staff meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 1-year previous experience managing staff including coordinating staff schedules and training.
- 1-year previous experience working with children and planning age-appropriate activities.
- First Aid & CPR Certified.
- Complete the Mandatory Reporter Training upon hire.
