Meltroom Operator

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for operator functions in the Melt Room, leading in the melt process of precious metals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs work of a recurring nature requiring mechanical aptitude; may use special or standard hand tools dependent upon job; produce products according to verbal or written instructions; operation of hand tools, power tools and operation of equipment as necessary

• Must be able to lift 75lbs regularly
• Must be able to stand, walk, or bend as needed
• Must monitor the melt, charge the furnaces, pour the melt, etc.
• Must be able to push carts
• Must be able to properly communicate with co-workers and Supervisors
• Must be able to work safe and always stay focused
• Must be organized, able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Cleans and inspects furnace and power unit
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must be able to operate the furnace controls and make adjustments as needed
• Must be able to understand and follow written procedures exactly
• Must be able to work in a hot environment while wearing safety gear
• Must be able to wear all personal protective safety equipment required
• Must have a steady hand
• Ability to inspect silver before and after melting
• Must be able to see and recognize defects
• Must be able to stay focused on tasks at hand
• Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Employee must be able to be at work, on time, and ready to work at start of shift each day

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months manufacturing related experience; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Must have direct experience with heavy machinery or extruding.
