Surgical Consultants of Northern Virginia is Hiring a Medical Front Desk Receptionist Near Reston, VA

The Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for answering incoming calls, directing calls to appropriate staff, greeting and checking in all patients for office appointments, including paperwork for patients to fill out, scanning photo ID and insurance cards, entering all demographic information into the EMR, entering referrals for office visits into EMR, scanning for staff as needed, and working closely with physicians and staff. Athena EMR experience a plus.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Welcomes, greets, and directs all patients, guests, and visitors within the practice.

· Completes check-in via EMR.

· Assists patients, as needed, filling out portal information.

· Obtains and verifies patient demographic and insurance information at each visit.

· Obtains necessary patient information to meet current CMS and MIPS guidelines for electronic medical records.

· Scans pertinent patient information into EMR including patient referrals, authorizations, recent labs delivered by patient, etc.

· Obtains patient authorization for medical records release (HIPAA compliance).

· Schedules any necessary appointments after completion of patient visit.

· Monitors and prepares patient schedules for next day office appointments.

· Identifies and resolves minor patient billing complaints.

· Takes and applies co-pays to patient account.

· Manages self-pay patients and Care Credit patient account/billing.

· Monitor claims in hold and troubleshoot.

· Work claims not processed or rejected.

· Assists in ordering, receiving, and stocking of office supplies.

· Maintains cleanliness of waiting room.

· Assists other Medical Receptionists and Medical Secretaries as needed.

· Other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
