The Swing Kingdom team is looking for an experienced Operations Director with a strong knowledge of overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring efficient, cost-effective processes that support company goals. The Ops Director is responsible for strategic planning, strong leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to drive improvements in productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Duties and responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational strategies; define and execute strategic plans to streamline operations and improve efficiency while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Set long-term objectives that align with organizational goals and drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee daily operations; manage departments including production, logistics, quality control, and installation to ensure smooth daily functions.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and adjust operational strategies as needed to maintain high performance.
- Prepare and manage the operations budget, focusing on cost control, resource allocation, and financial efficiency.
- Analyze financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure that resources are used effectively.
- Implement strategies to minimize inventory costs while maintaining adequate stock levels for production.
- Lead and develop operations team; hire, mentor, and evaluate staff to foster a motivated and productive team.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives; promote lean principles and other continuous improvement methodologies across the organization.
- Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.
- Coordinate with other departments; work closely with senior management, sales, and marketing to align operational activities with business goals.
- Collaborate with HR, IT, and finance to support operational needs and implement company-wide policies.
- Provide regular reports on operational performance, budget adherence, and strategic initiatives.
- Present recommendations for process improvements, capital investments, and growth opportunities.
- Additional projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 5 to 7 years of plant manufacturing leadership experience. Woodworking or other construction experience highly preferred. Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent from four-year College or technical school.
- Proven ability to lead and develop production staff at all levels.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Proven result in production scheduling, logistics, and on-time delivery.
- Experience in developing and maintaining strong quality systems and standards.
- Excellent oral, written, and listening communication skills.
- Proven critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Working conditions
Office duties will be performed in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment. Plant duties will be performed both outside and in an indoor environment without air conditioning and with minimal heating.
Physical requirements
Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer. Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret, and transcribe written material and to perform other required duties. Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone. Requires occasional stooping, bending, stretching, lifting to 50 pounds, and sanding for extended periods.
