About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting reinsurance treaty business across all casualty lines - except professional lines. Experience with program management and knowledge of Workers Compensation is strongly desired. Open to both insurance and reinsurance experience. The role may have some analytical work, in addition to underwriting, depending on successful applicants' background and interest. Role will include active engagement with Client Underwriting and our Structured Solutions team, as well as direct contact with trading partners.
This includes :
- Underwriting
Make underwriting decisions within authority levels and support the escalation of treaties exceeding authority in accordance with Referral Guidelines
Build and maintain professional relationships with external clients and internal stakeholders
Participate in Swiss Re initiatives, projects, team meetings and cross functional teams as needed.
Helps recruit, train, and develop team members as needed
Expectation is that successful candidates will possess the ability to combine underwriting with actuarial work ranging from limited actuarial work to full costings
About the team
The National / Regional Underwriting team is responsible for a diverse range of approximately 200 US ceding companies, including direct and broker-produced business. The team includes senior actuaries and underwriters who work with corresponding client managers and other staff including structured solutions, claims, risk management, reserving, contracts specialists and legal. The team is based across Armonk, NY, Chicago / Schaumburg IL and Kansas City, MO and works with stakeholders in a number of Swiss Re offices including New York, NY, Toronto Canada and Westlake Village, CA.
About You
For Armonk, NY, the estimated base salary range for this position is $156,000 to $246,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity / specialization / scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
