Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team of passionate clinicians. Someone who is invested in continuing their education and growing as a clinician through direct mentorship from staff PTs and alternate opportunities for continuing education. As a PTA, you would work alongside licensed Physical Therapists to provide exceptional care, focusing on implementing research driven therapeutic exercise programs designed to enhance patient recovery, improve mobility, restore function and/or return to sport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Patient Care: Support Physical Therapists in providing hands-on care to patients, including implementing prescribed treatment plans and exercise programs.
- Exercise Program Implementation: Utilize your background in exercise science to design, adapt, and monitor therapeutic exercise programs tailored to individual patient needs.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on the proper execution of exercises, use of equipment, and techniques for pain management and injury prevention.
- Monitoring Progress: Observe and report on patients’ progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient treatments, progress notes, and any changes in patient condition in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration : Work collaboratively with the rehabilitation team to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
- Equipment Management: Ensure that therapy equipment is maintained and used correctly, providing instructions and assistance to patients as needed.
- Patient Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with patients, ensuring they understand their treatment plans and feel supported throughout their recovery process.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Certification: Must be a licensed or certified Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Florida.
- Experience: Prior experience as a PTA or a new graduate, with a strong emphasis on therapeutic exercise or a related area in exercise science, kinesiology, athletic training, or personal training.
- Skills:
◦ Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercise techniques and rehabilitation methods.
◦ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
◦ Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
◦ Proficient in-patient assessment and treatment documentation.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift patients and equipment as needed and to stand, walk, and move throughout the day.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience in a clinical setting with a focus on orthopedic or sports rehabilitation.
- Advanced certifications in therapeutic exercise or related specialties (e.g., Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist - CSCS).
