Job Description
Provide campus locksmith services

Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
An advanced knowledge of the locksmith trade equivalent to complete accredited apprentice training or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.

At least three (3) years additional practical experience is required.

Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Excel.

A valid New York State driver’s license is required.

The ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicle is required.

The employee is required to provide his own hand tools.

Skills and Knowledge
Job Specific Qualifications:
Must have knowledge of card reader access and remote locking systems.
Must have a strong interest in working in the locksmith shop, willingness to work cohesively as a team, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, leadership skills, good interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, commitment to excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
Repair and install locks, reset pins and tumblers for both key type and combination locks.
Open locked doors, cabinets, desks, small safes, etc. Take impressions, make, and duplicate keys.
Work from master list of core settings and combinations to make keys. Keep records of all locks in the University. Must be able to install, repair and troubleshoot electronic exit devises, panic bars, mortise locks, wifi locks, and power-over-ethernet locks. Install or repair panic bar devices on doors.

Physical Requirements
Standing up to 50% of shift, bending at waist up to 65% of shift, frequent stooping and/or crouching (50% – 80% of shift), frequent twisting and bending of head, neck, and torso 75 – 95%), full range of arm movement (extension, twisting, and bending of arm and shoulder, reaching overhead, etc.) (50% – 95%). Apply pressure sufficient to take key impressions. Fine motor skills, finger dexterity necessary to handle small keys, hand tools and perform repairs and installations. Hand and wrist dexterity as necessary to operate machinery, create keys, open locked areas etc., Exposure to strong chemical smells, silicone, clay. Able to perform all physical functions needed to drive vehicles with manual and automatic transmission

Tools and Equipment:
Operate key cutter, core setter, and electric drill.

Use a variety of hand tools including hammer, screwdriver, punch, chisel, etc.
