We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to lead our lumber yard operations as a Store Manager. The Store Manager will oversee all aspects of the lumber yard, including sales, inventory management, customer service, staff supervision, and safety compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the lumber and building materials industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering excellent service to customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Provide strong leadership and direction to the lumber yard team, including sales associates, yard workers, and administrative staff. Set performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching and feedback, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Sales Management: Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets. Monitor sales performance, analyze trends, and identify opportunities to expand product offerings and increase market share. Work closely with the outside sales team to maximize sales opportunities and customer satisfaction.
  • Inventory Control: Oversee all aspects of inventory management, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and maintaining adequate inventory levels. Implement procedures to minimize shrinkage, loss, and damages. Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies as needed.
  • Customer Service: Ensure that every customer receives prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable assistance from the lumber yard team. Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and effectively. Implement initiatives to enhance the overall customer experience and build customer loyalty.
  • Safety Compliance: Uphold a culture of safety throughout the lumber yard, adhering to all safety protocols, regulations, and guidelines. Conduct regular safety training sessions for staff and ensure that all equipment and tools are maintained in good working condition. Investigate and address any safety incidents or concerns promptly.
  • Financial Management: Manage the lumber yard budget and expenses effectively to optimize profitability. Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to track performance against goals and identify areas for cost savings and revenue enhancement. Implement pricing strategies and promotions to drive sales and maximize margins.
  • Vendor and Supplier Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with lumber suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of quality products at competitive prices. Negotiate favorable terms and agreements to support the needs of the lumber yard and its customers.
  • Facility Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the lumber yard facility, including buildings, equipment, and grounds. Coordinate repairs and maintenance services as needed to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, retail management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a management role within the lumber and building materials industry.
  • Strong knowledge of lumber products, grades, sizes, and applications.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including experience with inventory management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
