The Location: Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Laboratory Technician 2 Molecular Analysis, 2nd shift, to join our dedicated lab team at our Rensselaer, NY site.
The Pay Range: $24 - $27. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range, however, please note that the upper end of the range is not guaranteed to be offered. For 2nd shift hourly positions a 10% shift differential will be included.
The Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1:30pm – 10:00pm (some flexibility available). Training for the first two days will be 8am – 4:30pm.

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician 2 to perform a variety of laboratory tests with minimal supervision. This role involves processing and analyzing samples, maintaining and operating equipment, and ensuring quality control through thorough documentation. The ideal candidate will have strong technical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and a solid understanding of laboratory procedures. This position is essential for maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency in our testing processes.
Core Responsibilities:
Occasional travel is required for this role, generally 2-4 trips per month.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This role is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus. The work environment for this role has exposure to general molecular biology/nucleic acid laboratory conditions including but not limited to, regular handling of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and reagents, radioactive materials, and use of non-hazardous and potentially hazardous equipment. The work environment will be temperature and noise controlled. The working hours shall be generally 40 hours per week. Additionally, the workload may require overtime hours. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

- Conduct standard laboratory tests with minimal supervision, including sample-receiving, logging, processing, testing, and reporting of results.
- Independently maintain and operate equipment.
- Handle complex samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring quality control.
- Receive and store samples according to standard operating procedure.
- Ensure lab environment is clean and well-maintained, following safety protocols.
- Maintain inventory of supplies, reagents, and samples.
- Follow detailed instructions for standard laboratory protocols.
- Schedule work for self, such that quality results are obtained in a timely fashion with a minimum amount of re-testing.
- Associate's degree in a biological field or equivalent technical training required.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience and/or training in laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, PCR).
- Experience performing skilled or technical assignments with minimal supervision, including sample processing, data recording, and result analysis.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment operation, and quality control practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
- Ability to listen and understand in presented and different points of view.
