JOB DESCRIPTION:
An RN Unit Manager for the Vent unit oversees the day-to-day clinical activities of health care personnel, such as LPNs and CNAs.
Nurses on a ventilator unit monitor their patients' conditions using equipment such as a cardiac monitor, blood pressure gauge and pulse measurements.
When the patient has been stabilized, the doctor will order the patient weaned off or titrated down from the ventilator and the nurse will initiate these protocols. The patient's response to the titration is measured by an arterial blood gas measurement, transcutaneous pulse and oximetry readings.
