Automation Engineer

Stella Contracting Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement automation solutions for our various projects. This role will be instrumental in improving efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring quality across our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement automation systems for various construction processes (e.g., equipment operation, data collection, reporting).
• Develop and maintain PLC programs, HMI interfaces, and SCADA systems.
• Integrate automation systems with existing software and hardware.
• Troubleshoot and resolve automation system issues.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define automation requirements.
• Document automation systems and procedures.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest automation technologies and trends.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices.
• Provide remote technical support to on-site teams.
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in automation engineering, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or other relevant languages.
• Experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
• Experience with automation hardware (e.g., PLCs, sensors, actuators).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience with specific PLC brands (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
• Knowledge of robotics and automation.
• Experience with data analytics and visualization tools.
• Familiarity with cloud-based automation platforms.
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM).
