As an Electrical Estimator/Purchasing Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring that every project is set up for success, from securing the best vendors to managing costs efficiently. We’re looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong grasp of electrical systems, and excellent negotiation skills to join our growing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) from electrical drawings and project blueprints.
- Perform take-offs from electrical drawings to ensure all required components are accounted for.
- Work closely with vendors to source materials, ensuring compliance with high-voltage substation construction standards.
- Manage RFQs (Requests for Quotes) and build strong relationships with both new contractors and existing approved vendors to ensure we get the best pricing and quality for each project.
- Negotiate contracts and purchase agreements, keeping in mind cost efficiency and project timelines.
- Support Siemens' social responsibility initiatives by sourcing responsibly and ethically.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth coordination between estimating, purchasing, and project management teams.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, staying updated on market trends and changes in vendor capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Education: BS degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with 5 years of relevant experience in Power Transmission, Substation, or Electrical Construction Estimating/Purchasing are highly encouraged to apply.
- Experience: 0-5 years of relevant work experience in electrical construction or purchasing. Candidates with more experience will be considered for higher-level positions.
- Proven experience in electrical systems and components related to high-voltage substation construction is essential.
- Strong understanding of electrical drawings and the ability to perform take-offs is required.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Knowledge of the materials and equipment needed in the electrical construction industry, including the ability to identify what needs to be bought and from whom.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
