Overview
We are seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to safely and effectively operate various types of heavy machinery, including trucks, excavators, horizontal directional drills, vibratory plows, and other equipment. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in underground utility construction, with proven experience operating an excavator and the mechanical aptitude to learn and operate directional drills, plows, or locating systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment safely and effectively to minimize risks of injury, property damage, or accidents.
- Perform daily safety inspections and maintenance checks on equipment.
- Clean and maintain equipment according to schedules and requirements.
- Securely store equipment in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to supervisors promptly.
- Participate in routine maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability.
- Interact courteously and respectfully with residents and the public.
- Adhere to all workplace safety practices and procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License (CDL Class A is a plus).
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain a medical certificate.
- Commitment to following all company policies and procedures.
Physical Demands
- Work in environments near active traffic.
- Work 8 hours per day, 5 days a week (overtime and weekend work may be required).
- Perform tasks in direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 75 lbs. repeatedly.
- Bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the day.
