What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Sales position at TECHLINE INC?
Techline is a wholesale distributor of electric utility products. The Outside Sales role will maintain and develop business with electric utilities in Western Oklahoma. Travel to customer sites is required throughout each week.
The Techline Outside Sales Representative is responsible for closing sales and following up on leads developed by other team members. The primary role would be conducting sales through interactions with both potential and existing customers. Techline Outside Salespeople have a primary goal of sustaining and growing the business to achieve long-term success.
Role and Responsibilities
- Establish a positive working relationship with electric utility employees in purchasing, engineering, and operations.
- Maintain routine communication with key personnel at each electric utility customer to monitor Techline’s performance and to identify opportunities for business growth with each utility.
- Daily communication with Techline warehouse responsible for order fulfillment to customers.
- Continually learn about product application from the manufacturers and customers alike.
- Receive and provide education and training on new products as introduced from manufacturers.
- Provide after-hours support to electric utility customers during power restoration efforts.
- Work closely and travel with manufacturers and their representatives for customer visits.
- Attend national and local industry conventions and conferences for networking and education opportunities.
- Implement continuous individual performance improvements to achieve better results each quarter.
- Other duties as assigned
- Travel requirements: 75% travel
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 4 Year Business Degree or similar utility industry sales experience
- Ability to sell and support technical products to electric utility customers.
- Experience providing written quotations adhering to customer specifications.

- Utilize ability to learn, adapt quickly, and consistently apply critical thinking skills.
- Achieve successful outcomes without daily supervision while escalating key roadblocks/issues with your supervisor where appropriate.
- Display self-awareness and a natural curiosity.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Highly proficient use of Microsoft Excel is imperative.
- Have the ability and discipline to work independently while maintaining routine professional communication with all parties.
- Reside in Oklahoma.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment whether at the customer location, home office, or Techline location.
