This position is for a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planner. The role entails developing a disaster recovery for multiple systems of which some are integrated with other systems and a business continuity plan that covers all aspects of standard business continuity plans. The individual will work with executives, management, and subject matter experts across the agency. They will develop, maintain, or implement business continuity and disaster recovery strategies and solutions, including risk assessments, business impact analyses, strategy selection, and documentation of business continuity and disaster recovery procedures. Additionally, plan, conduct, and debrief regular mock-disaster exercises to test the adequacy of existing plans and strategies, updating procedures and plans regularly and act as a coordinator for continuity efforts after a disruption event.

Requirements
- Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery experience.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and cloud services.
- Understanding of data backup and recovery technologies.
- Proficiency in risk management software and tools.
- Situational awareness, abstract thinking, adaptability, and risk management.
- Performance and participation in Business Impact Analyses and Risk Assessments, and facilitating mock exercises, as well as participating in IT recovery
- The ability to create or carry out existing business continuity plans, IT technical recovery plans, business continuity policies, and crisis management plans.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Skill in creating clear and comprehensive documentation for BCDR plans and procedures.
- Capability to deliver training and awareness programs to ensure staff readiness.
- Strong analytical skills to assess potential risks and vulnerabilities within the organization.
- Capacity to evaluate and prioritize critical business functions and resources.
- Capability to develop strategies for minimizing disruption and maintaining continuity during a disaster.
- Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) (Preferred)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (Preferred)
- Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer (CDRE) (Preferred)
- Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans: Min 5 years (Required)
- Proven experience in developing and implementing Business Continuity and Disaster
- Recovery plans across multiple industries
- Experience in conducting risk assessments, business impact analyses, and continuity exercises.
- BA or BS, A degree in a relevant field such as Business Continuity Management, Disaster Recovery, Information Technology, or Risk Management
- Work with business and IT organizations to develop and refine their business continuity strategies. Including but not limited to providing expert advice, assessing risks, and providing solutions to ensure the organization is prepared for unexpected disruptions.
- Develop emergency management plans for recovery decision making and communications, continuity of critical departmental processes, or temporary shut-down of noncritical departments to ensure continuity of operation and governance.
- Develop disaster recovery plans for physical locations with critical assets, such as data centers.
