Job Title: CNC Lead/Working Supervisor – Heavy Equipment Industry

Reports To: Operations Manager

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated CNC Lead/Working Supervisor to join our team in the heavy equipment manufacturing industry. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of CNC machining processes while also actively participating in production. You will ensure that all CNC machines are operated efficiently, safely, and according to quality standards. The CNC Lead/Working Supervisor will also manage and mentor a team of machinists, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead a team of CNC machinists and operators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and development.
- Schedule and assign daily tasks to CNC machine operators and ensure proper execution of machining processes.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and address any performance or behavioral issues.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, promoting adherence to all safety regulations and practices.
CNC Machine Operation:
- Operate CNC machines, including milling, turning, and other equipment specific to the heavy equipment industry, to produce precise parts and components.
- Set up, calibrate, and monitor CNC machines to ensure they are running to specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any CNC machine issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
Quality Control:
- Ensure that all produced parts meet quality standards and specifications, using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Perform inspections and tests on parts and products, making necessary adjustments to improve quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with quality control teams to maintain a consistent product quality standard and implement corrective actions as needed.
Process Improvement:
- Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance machine performance, reduce downtime, and optimize production.
- Work closely with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure that machine tools are well-maintained and perform at their highest capacity.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate production logs, records of machine maintenance, and employee performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production standards by documenting and reporting any discrepancies or issues.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in the heavy equipment or manufacturing industry.
- Strong working knowledge of CNC machinery, including operation, setup, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with a variety of CNC tools, including mills, lathes, and grinders.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM software.
- Advanced knowledge of CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code) and experience with various CNC control systems.
- Solid understanding of machining techniques and equipment.
Leadership Skills:
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a high-production environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train and develop team members in CNC machining best practices.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certification in CNC machining, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy materials for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a noisy, fast-paced, and potentially hazardous environment, while wearing appropriate protective gear.
