Position Overview:
The Waste Operations Technician would play a critical role in maintaining field operations and support day-to-day customer-based activities. This position would support containerized waste activities (Hazardous and Non-Regulated waste) and inventory control measures. The Waste Operations Technician needs to be able to perform physical work, small machine operation (fork-lift), and support tank cleaning and industrial cleaning tasks. This position requires strong computer knowledge to support inventory and containerized waste software. This position will support day-to-day operations and technical sales support.
In this role, the Waste Operations Technician serves as a brand ambassador of the company, therefore this individual is expected to always represent the company in a positive manner both externally with clients as well as inside the office. Reporting to the Facility Manager, this position will be primarily on-site based but will require frequent travel to both customer and TNS locations, as well as company meeting locations to support business needs.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Completion of all job-specific, employee related paperwork including customer communications, coordinating logistics, and exceeding established safety protocols.
- Safely and professionally operate company owned equipment in complete accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Support and play an active role in the Company’s Health and Safety management system including hazard communication, tracking, near miss documentation, audits, and training.
- Facilitate the transportation and disposal of waste from customer site to disposal facility
- Make sure all waste and associated paperwork is in regulatory compliance
- Oversee both Inbound and Outbound shipments of warehouse inventory and supplies
- Create and Reconcile customer orders in waste management software
- Other duties as required

Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience working in a hazardous waste environment.
- Must show demonstrated success in being reliable and maintaining safe operations.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with others.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with proven ability to meet deadlines and expectations.
- Provide leadership skills on some sites, depending on skill sets.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- CDL license required or the ability to obtain CDL license within 30 days.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience performing related work (general construction, industrial cleaning, emergency response).
- Possess the 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or obtain within the first 60 days.
- Confined Space Training – desirable
- CPR/First Aid Training – desirable
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, shoveling while completing physically demanding tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Daily Travel required (SC, NC, GA)– with possible overnight stays.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
- Possible exposures to hazardous materials/waste, offensive odors, and loud noise.
- Working around moving objects or vehicles.
- Ability to perform work under sustained hours, uncomfortable weather conditions and rough terrain.
