Tetra Tech Inc. Disaster Recovery (TDR) is currently seeking a Lead Field Inspector (Onsite) for a disaster recovery program for the state of IOWA. The successful candidate will provide crucial support to individuals and communities impacted by natural disasters. We work to ensure that those affected receive timely assistance, accurate information, and compassionate support.

We are seeking a dedicated Field Inspector to join our team. The role is based in Des Moines, Iowa. As a Field Inspector, you will be responsible for traveling to the assigned location to identify and describe damages through photographs, and complete required forms. Identify possible mitigation measures and collect documentation. Coordinate with FEMA field personnel. Provide additional information upon request.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have extraordinary attention to detail and be responsible for a variety of property assessments, including damage assessments and risk assessments.

o Identify, document, and photograph damages or loss of verifiable damage.

o Identify, document, and photograph potential risks to homes from future disasters.

o Typing accurately, preparing and maintaining inspection documents and housing inspection reports.

o Research, and track damage/risk inspections or documentation problems and discrepancies.

o Provide assistance and support to Special Inspectors and other program personnel.

o Daily enter key data of housing damage inspection in the database.

o Maintain and track caseload and track in a management information system.

o Superior customer service skill set, ability to listen, facilitate, and negotiate problems.

o Complete required forms as directed.

o Work with case management and intake specialist personnel as needed.

o Follow procedures and maintain communication and focus.

o Provide additional information upon request.

o Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

o Keep up to date with current building codes, safety regulations, and effective inspection techniques.

Additional Responsibilities:

o Provide guidance to the Field Inspectors.

o Document damage and input into the database.

o Coordinate and participate in case meetings.

o Follow procedures and maintain communication and focus.

o Maintain and track caseload and track in a management information system.

o Keep management informed on issues, problems & resolutions.

o Superior customer service skill set, ability to listen, facilitate, and negotiate problems.

o Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

o Always Work safely and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.

o Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

o 2 years of experience working as a Field Inspector.

o Bachelor’s degree preferred; however, the experience will be considered in place of a degree.

o Knowledge in one of the fields (construction, mechanical, structural/civil, electrical, and architectural) is preferred. (Engineer in training preferred).

o Knowledge of and experience using Xactimate, RS Means, or other similar systems is preferred.

o Prior experience performing inspections for disaster recovery program(s) preferred.

o Strong written and oral communication skills.

o Strong analytical skills.

o Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

o Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet aggressive deadlines.

o Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

o Ability to produce quality work products with attention to detail.

o Workdays over 8 hours and/or weekend attendance may be required.
