Description

Company Overview

Located in the heart of Dallas, Texas Institute for Surgery (TIS) is a state-of-the-art surgical hospital dedicated to providing the best in surgical services in combination with renowned patient care. Our facility has nine OR's, three pain management/lithotripsy treatment rooms and CT scan radiology services. There are also nine patient and family-friendly inpatient rooms for longer recovery needs.
TIS was founded and is jointly owned by a select group of highly-acclaimed Dallas surgeons and Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas.
TIS surgeons specialize in orthopedic surgery, back and spine surgery, pain management, ENT procedures, plastic surgery, foot and ankle surgery, urological surgical care, sports medicine and other specialties.

Purpose: Performs the Nursing Process through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe, direct care to assigned patients and to act as a resource to other staff members. Responsible for his/her designated patients during the assigned shifts. Integrates the mission and values of TIS in the provisions of patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  2. Provides safe and direct patient care. Promotes patient care as our primary focus by ensuring that individualized, goal directed nursing care is provided to patients through the use of the nursing process. Adheres to standards of care and practice.
  3. Acts as a resource person to other staff members. Completes unit-based inservices and is responsible for encouraging professional growth in others.
  4. Acts as physician-patient (family) liaison. Acts as patient advocate.
  5. Documents nursing care and supplies in a relevant and concise manner that demonstrates compliance with policy and awareness of medical/legal implications.
  6. Provides appropriate teaching to patient and/or significant other.
  7. Contributes to positive interpersonal and inter-departmental communication demonstrated by positive interactions with patients, families, peers, and physicians.
  8. Delegates tasks appropriate to the skill level of personnel. Acts as a resource in managing daily operations. Makes decisions regarding staffing assignments and case flow. Performs scheduling assuring adequate coverage of all shifts.
  9. Maintains a working knowledge and thorough understanding of all equipment and utilities and provides knowledgeable guidance and evaluation of the environment of care management including life safety (fire prevention), security, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency preparedness, infection control, and the safe use of medical equipment and utilities.
  10. Serves on internal committees as needed.
  11. Provides assessment of physiologic, mental, and psychosocial health status of the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
  12. Performs other duties of a related nature as required.

Qualifications


Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Registered Nurse in State of Texas
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support
