This position is for the Gainesville State School located in Gainesville, Texas.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs highly advanced (senior-level) supervisory maintenance and construction work. Work involves overseeing maintenance and construction staff involved in the installation, care, and repair of state facilities and equipment. Plans, assigns, schedules, and supervises staff, maintenance repair programs, minor construction projects, and may monitor contracted work; manages the operation of the maintenance computer program; and assists with the development and maintenance of the six (6) year capital improvements plan.
Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May be required to be on-call or work in excess of 40 hours per work week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent. Seven (7) years full-time wage-earning maintenance experience, three (3) years of which must be in a supervisory/lead capacity.
Required: Completion of vocational courses in two (2) of the following related fields: welding, plumbing, automotive repair, small appliances, landscaping, painting, air conditioning, building trades, carpentry, electrical/electronic repair, blue-print reading, refrigeration, automated systems, or other maintenance-related field.
Experience and Education Substitutions:
- Pro-rated part-time experience may satisfy the experience requirement.
Note: Any degree, diploma, high school equivalent, or course hours required to meet minimum qualifications must be obtained from an accredited educational institution, college or university.
