Onshore Project Developer

The Onshore Project Developer is responsible for new seismic project development, i.e. investment in multi-client projects, within the onshore US region. The main duties include working with customers and the TGS Onshore business unit to scope out, design, secure customer commitment, and deliver new land seismic acquisition using a combination of internal and third-party resources. The role contributes to TGS business objectives through securing both prefunding and post project acquisition sales from library sales or additional derivatives and services.

Responsibilities

Secure new seismic data acquisition projects with customers onshore US

Project idea generation including: 

• Developing leads for new acquisition projects based on market trends, regional geoscience challenges, and resource prospectiveness
• Researching long term potential in the area based on land position, probable land turnover, and; potential additional participants/customers in the area
• Preparing and delivering the value proposition to customers including negotiating commercial terms
• Working with internal TGS resources to prepare the investment business case and submit to the committee for review and approval

Strategic portfolio building: 

• Gather business intelligence to understand trends and anticipate future high priority areas
• Use TGS data to understand and monitor customer activity in given geographical areas and plays/landing zones within a given area
• Develop a pipeline of strategic opportunities including multi-client 3D acquisition, reprocessing, depth imaging, advanced products such as rock attribute inversions to enhance the value of existing shelf data

Develop good working relationships with clients and take ownership in developing client specific project needs fulfilled through MC product offerings

Build relationships of trust with key personnel in all existing major accounts & feedback to sales and BD

Be proactive in identifying potential business opportunities in new operators in a given geographic area

Attend relevant industry exhibitions and conferences to represent and promote Company business

Take responsibility for your own safety and the safety of other employees, and comply with all instructions given regarding health, safety and the protection of the environment

Ensure the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment as required and report any hazards, accidents or injuries to your immediate supervisor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in geoscience (geology or geophysics), engineering, business administration or related field is considered a strong asset
• Previous experience in oil and gas industry 
• Hands on experience with any or all parts of the seismic project lifecycle – land seismic acquisition, seismic processing and interpretation, seismic sales 
• Strong North American network and key relationships with executives and/or key decision makers within US E&P customer base
• Understanding of land seismic acquisition technology and techniques
• Understanding of land survey design and how this impacts cost vs product
• Understanding of the geology in the US onshore industry including unconventional reservoir exploitation 
• Proven track records of sales and project management
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop good, trustworthy working relationships with colleagues and clients
• Commercial understanding through education and/or work experience
• Strong analytical, financial and presentation skills are required
• Initiative and self-drive to generate and communicate project ideas to management
• A team player with a strong belief in the value of knowledge sharing
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills
