SUMMARY
The Resident Automation Technician supports our customer on all automation-related topics. This position requires a broad-based electrical and mechanical skillset and a proactive approach to improve the sites performance through trouble-shooting and hands-on repair. Based at our customer site, the Resident Automation Technician must represent the TGW image and ensure that a professional relationship with the client is developed and maintained.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Resolve customer equipment issues as quickly and practically as possible.
- Complete work assignments and the associated work orders as assigned.
- Complete maintenance activities pertaining to the automated equipment onsite, including conveyors, cranes, shuttles, scale checks, and carton-opening systems.
- Adhere to the highest quality standards, while always ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Optimize automation efficiency and performance to ensure delivery of contracted KPIs. Interface with the customer as needed to support operations.
- Monitor and maintain the site spare parts inventory, as applicable.
- Collaborate with the broader TGW Lifetime Services team to track, document, and communicate issues and lessons learned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or Technical Certificate preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment in industrial, warehousing/distribution, or related environments.
Skills & Abilities
- Thorough attention to detail and demonstrated problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Familiarity with Human Machine Interface (HMI) and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) experience preferred.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings for use in diagnostics preferred.
- Previous experience troubleshooting and repairing material-handling conveyors, AS/RS, and shuttle systems preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.

- Must be able to adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects
- While looking forward, must be able to see objects or movements that are off to the side
- Must be able to visually inspect machines
- Must be able to see differences between colors, shades and brightness
- Exposed to moving and/or motorized equipment, machinery, parts and electricity that require safety protocols
- Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand
- Must be able to understand the speech of others
- Must be able to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
- Must be able to focus on one source of sound and ignore others
- Must be able to determine from which direction a sound came
- Must be able to use critical PPE correctly
- Exposed to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather based on geographic region
