Program Assistant (30-40 hours per week)
The Arc of McLennan County, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is dedicated to expanding opportunities, care, and support for individuals and families impacted by intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Program Facilitator will primarily be responsible for facilitating the day program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities at The Opportunity Center, as well as assisting with the afterschool and summer programs.
Job Expectations
1. The Opportunity Center:
Familiarize yourself with client information from their files, including medical conditions/allergies, behaviors, likes, and dislikes.
Open the Opportunity Center, greet clients upon their arrival. Ensure clients clock in and out daily.
Interact with all clients daily.
Collaborate with other Program staff to develop and monitor individual goals.
Ensure the program area is clean and sanitized before leaving for the day, including the kitchen and restrooms.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
2. After School Program (ASP) and Summer Program:
Report to the Program Director for daily assignments.
Familiarize yourself with client information from files, including medical conditions/allergies, behaviors, likes, and dislikes.
Prepare snacks for children and communicate any changes in snack behavior to the Operations Manager.
Drive/ride the bus as needed to pick up students from the Midway Independent School District.
Greet children when they arrive in the afternoon.
Maintain an up-to-date bus log and submit it to the Operations Manager at the end of each month.
Ensure the program area is clean and sanitized upon arrival and before leaving for the day, including the kitchen and restrooms.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director. These duties also apply to the Summer Program.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in working with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Knowledge of strategies for managing challenging behaviors.
General knowledge of special education guidelines.
Ability to safely drive a small bus.
Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work.
Ability to work independently, as well as with a wide variety of individuals and organizations.
Attention to detail, data entry accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment.
Creative mindset with the ability to suggest improvements.
High school degree required; some college preferred.
