What You’ll Do
Play a crucial part in safeguarding residents, employees, and visitors at Arcadia. Take charge of securing our community building, grounds, and assets while managing the flow of incoming vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
15 Craigside
- Full-Time (40 hours per week) Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm
Responsibilities
- Provides prompt and courteous services for residents and guests.
- Patrols assigned areas to provide security and monitor parking areas to ensure compliance with parking rules and safety.
- Monitors points of access to the property, building and storage areas.
- Aids residents and visitors with vehicle ingress and egress, providing support in transferring belongings to the Reception Desk.
- Greets visitors and directs them to register at the Reception Desk.
- Screens unknown visitors to determine their purpose for being on the property. Provides direction and instruction to legitimate visitors, redirects those without legitimate purpose off the property.
- Ensures proper wellness screening of all non-residents entering the building (when applicable).
- Appropriately issues trespass warnings.
- Maintains knowledge of and ability to recognize individuals who have been banned from the property or who have supervised visits prearranged with residents and/or Management; handles these individuals following established policies and procedures.
- Maintains awareness of residents who are in danger of eloping; effectively responds to resident elopement according to established policies and procedures.
- Supports compliance with organizational policies and procedures concerning employee parking and assigned employee drop off and pick up areas
- Observes and reports fire hazards and unsafe conditions.
- Checks doors and windows for security; locks doors and turns out lights.
- Provides security escort services as requested to residents, guests or employees.
- Initiates appropriate action when encountering an unsafe situation (“appropriate action” includes following established policies and procedures where they exist; where they don’t exist “appropriate” provides for the formulation of a reasonable response to mitigate the unsafe condition.)
- Reports unusual or suspicious occurrences.
- Responds to emergency situations and calls according to established policies and procedures.
- Gathers information regarding security related complaints and incidents and reports them to Management according to established policies and procedures.
- Prepares incident reports, logs and other required record keeping with accuracy and within required timeframes.
- Conducts routine inspections of company vehicles, reporting discrepancies as needed
- Performs washing and refueling of company vehicles as scheduled
- Enforces parking rules.
- Valet/Park staff or resident vehicles as needed.
- Expedites traffic flow during events

Education/Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent; required to successfully complete 8 hours of classroom training provided by a Board of Private Detectives and Guards approved instructor using Board approved curricula, pass the required test, complete 4 hours of on the job training and possess a current DCCA Registered Guard Employee status; one year of related security experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations
DCCA Registered Guard Employee required. Current driver’s license required.
Computer Skills
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
