Sterile Processing Technician - Part-time (24 hours/week) - Days (7a-330p)
Position Summary
- Performs decontamination and sterilization of all instrumentation from all hospital areas. Dries and assembles instruments and instrument trays. Operates decontamination and sterilization equipment and performs daily tests prior to sterilizing.
Essential Functions
- Communicates effectively with OR staff and nurse director with any concerns about instrumentation and/or sterilization.Keeps up to date with current regulations regarding decontamination and sterilization techniques.
- Communicates and works effectively with vendors to ensure loaner equipment is appropriately delivered in an efficient amount of time.
- Compiles and records appropriate documentation of sterilization records.
- Inspects all instrumentation, equipment and tray integrity to promote patient safety.
- Demonstrates knowledge of infection control, asepsis and sterile techniques.
Position Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent education.
- Current certification in Sterile Processing (CRCST) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or can obtain certification in Sterile Processing within two years of hire.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
