What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advocate, Clinical Services (Part-time) position at The Bowery Mission?
The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. The Advocate provides one-to-one encouragement and accountability for women engaged in residential programming. The Advocate will carry a caseload and coordinate care with Clinical Services and an interdisciplinary team to help clients meet individual action plan goals, including relational, vocational, housing, and life skills goals. The Advocate will also facilitate classes, groups, and case-management needs.
As a key member of the Clinical Services team, develop integrated, faith-based clinical services that equip residential and non-residential clients to make progress on their Individual Action Plan (IAP) goals. Provide support, encouragement and accountability through individual and group sessions. Advocates will carry a caseload and coordinate care with Social Worker/Counselor and interdisciplinary team, assisting clients in relational, vocational, housing, and life skills goals. The Advocate will facilitate classes, groups, and referrals, support clients with their weekly activity schedule, and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
Reports to: Supervisor, Clinical Services
This is a part-time position, working approximately 20 hours per week in person at our Women's Center.
Shift 1: Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 12:30pm
Shift 2: Tuesday - Friday 3pm - 8pm
Requirements:
- Embraces the organization’s Statement of Faith
- Bachelor’s degree, certification or graduate-level work in a related field
- 2 years experience providing direct client services
- Highly relational with strong interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Flexible, approachable, and able to work with a team
- Proven confidentiality and personal integrity
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Compensation: $24.00 to $26.00 per hour; compensation commensurate with experience and education
