Job Description Job Summary Process Technician will be responsible for the receipt, handoff, and storage of all incoming samples to the Genomics Platform. Process Technicians will use Mercury and Biological Samples Platform (BSP) to store samples and hand off samples to their designated locations. Process Technician will be trained in understanding the biological characteristics of samples and their designated path of processing and safe storage temperature. Key Responsibilities Physical and informatic receipt, storage, and handoff of clinical and research biological specimens including, but not limited to, DNA, RNA, whole blood, stool, fresh frozen tissue, COVID-19 anterior nasal swabs, and saliva Inspect samples as they come in, searching for cracks, spills, leaks, or any other abnormal shipping conditions and documenting them in LIMS Maintain a cold chain for sensitive samples while performing receipt and inspection Communicate with PMs when sample receipt deviations occur, and updating Broad Quality Management System (BQMS) deviation tickets as information becomes available Contribute to Continuous Improvement of receipt processes, actively looking for ways to improve the process and editing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as necessary Answer emails, JIRA questions, and gchats promptly and professionally Any other additional tasks or responsibilities that are allocated to yourself or the receiving bench in the future Contribute to a positive team environment Key Skills Excellent communication with supervisors and bench mates High level of attention to detail, and accurate documentation and follow up practices Ability to handle and adapt to abnormal situations Ability to think critically Schedule Rotating 3 days on 3 days off Exact hours TBD, coverage of bench likely between 7a-1a Temporary M-F 9a-5p schedule will be necessary for training purposes All Broad employees, regardless of work location, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by Tuesday, October 12, 2021.
