Job Title: Medical Secretary
Location: Gainesville / Lake City
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Fulfills patient care administrative responsibilities which include: schedule and reschedule patients, print and mail appointment reminder letters, answering patient calls.
Guiding patients on how to set up their home monitoring equipment and how to send transmissions via the telephone.
Uploading new implant demographics, entering patient information into remote sites, discontinuing patients from remote sites.
Order and track charges entered by Holter/Device clinical staff, ordering home monitoring equipment
Completing order forms from vendors and verifying device information needed for surgery.
Keeping a tracking log of patients with monitors and follow up with patients who are to return their monitors.
Performs other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE:
1. Knowledge of health care field and care required to assist in providing exceptional patient care.
2. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
3. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
SKILLS:
1. Skill in obtaining and documenting accurately detailed patient information using electronic health records.
2. Skill in various administrative tasks.
3. Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff and providers.
ABILITIES:
1. Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
2. Ability to maintain strictest patient confidentiality.
3. Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks.
4. Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
5. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
6. Ability to work cooperatively with others as part of a Team.
EDUCATION: High school diploma is required. Graduation from a recognized training facility for medical assistants is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year work experience in a physician practice is preferred.
REQUIREMENTS: Clinical / Administrative MA experience preferred. Certification is desirable.
ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITION: Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Work is performed in a clinical setting, resulting in exposure to communicable disease, body fluids including blood, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to the clinic environment.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Work is in a clinical setting. Work frequently requires a full range of body motion including handling patients. Work involves standing and walking for extensive period of times. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
