What are the responsibilities and job description for the Container Maintenance Technician position at The City of Emporia?
Job Purpose and Objectives:
Container and cart delivery and maintenance.
- Completes check of shop truck (fluids, air, lights, etc.)
- Operates forklift
- Checks tablet for work orders
- Pick-up and delivery of carts and containers
- Records serial numbers of carts and numbers of containers picked up and delivered
- Returns carts to assigned addresses
- Repairs carts and containers and rebuilds & refurbishes containers
- Welding (Arc & Mig)/Oxygen-Acetylene cutting/Plasma cutting
- Washes carts and containers
- Washes and cleans pickup trucks
- Empties downtown pedestrian containers
- Takes inventory of shop supplies, including tires, carts, and containers
- Assists in the disposal of deceased animals in the absence of the Animal Control Officer
- Cleans and maintains shop and office
- Replaces mail boxes and/or posts to proper height and length from the curb
- Stencils containers with proper service days and container numbers
- Loads and unloads semi-trailers with forklift
- Enforces and maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances
- Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary
- Complies with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures
- Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools, and other aids as required or needed
- Protects and maintains any confidential information, whether oral, written, or electronic

Position Requirements:
1. High school diploma or other equivalent
2. 1-3 years previous handler and welding experience preferred
Certifications / Licenses:
1. Requires a valid Kansas driver’s license

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.75 - $18.49 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
