Operate and maintains equipment necessary for water treatment including centrifugal pumps, chemical feeders, filters and other mechanical equipment to maintain distribution system pressure Coordinates the operation of remote pumping stations using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (S.C.A.D.A.) computer system.Inspect, clean, and lubricate pumping and related equipment. Perform routine preventative maintenance, mechanical and basic electrical repair tasks.Operates emergency equipment in case of power failure or during notified emergency response conditions.Read and accurately record water and electrical conditions, oil levels, pressures, and other parameters.Assist in operation of treatment functions as needed, including collecting samples, chemical and bacterial testing, filling of daily chemical supplies, generator fuel tanks, and filter backwashing.In conjunction with the Operating Foremen monitors security during assigned shifts, receive, transmit, and log communications, radio transmissions, phones calls and any other emergency notifications. Performs building and grounds maintenance tasks, including cleaning equipment, janitorial work, painting. and assisting with equipment or facility modifications; provide emergency maintenance as needed.Performs annual inventory and maintenance of annual Christmas lighting outdoor display. Assist in training others in work techniques.Performs other duties as needed.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
This work requires the constant exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work requires constant sitting, grasping, manipulating or making small precise hand movements; occasional walking, standing, reaching with hands and arms; work requires seldom climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, pushing or pulling and tasting or smelling; work has standard vision and hearing requirements; vocal communication is necessary to express detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, and/or quickly; work has constant exposure to moving mechanical parts; frequent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; work has occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibrations, work requires the occasional use of protective devices such as, respirator, masks, goggles, and gloves; work is generally in a very loud noisy location (e.g. jack hammer work, garbage recycle plant).Must be able to work a rotating shift including nights, holidays, and weekends as assigned.
