Job Summary
The Cut in Gloucester is seeking a motivated, self-directed Human Resources Associate to serve as the primary HR contact for hourly and salaried employees, and to direct employee onboarding processes, benefits administration, HR support, and compliance.
The HR Associate will work with the Controller to provide counsel, coaching and support on HR fundamentals and employee related questions, will execute HR initiatives, and will maintain and protect confidential data with utmost scrutiny, judgment, and care.
This position is a part-time hourly role (ranging from 15 - 30 hours a week) and the hourly salary range per will be set commensurate with experience. Some off-site/remote work flexibility is possible.
Responsibilities
Onboarding: conduct pre-employment processes, onboard new hires on TriNet, from I-9 verification to execution of employment documents such as NDA’s, Employment Offer Letters, completion of background checks and state-mandated forms, etc.
Employee Liaison: serve as primary contact for employees with HR questions, initiate and respond to communications with employees on matters of time-sensitive compliance, etc.
Benefits: Conduct introductory benefits meeting, ensure timely enrollment, maintain calendar of per-employee and company-wide deadlines re: Open Enrollment, Life Status Changes, etc. Maintain PTO communication re: accrual/expenditure. Complete necessary regulatory reporting, as required.
Performance: assist with maintenance of employee files and documentation, performance reviews, performance actions and support, and more. Ensure that employee relations issues are properly identified, reported, investigated and resolved.
Leaves: Administer leaves of absence, ensure compliance with leave laws, and communicate leave processes to employees and managers. Appropriately manage leave, FMLA and ADA processes.
Offboarding: Attend separation meetings as needed, calculate and prepare final documentation for offboarding employees, including PTO/final pay, etc.
Hiring: assist with recruitment, posting jobs, sourcing candidates and hiring
Compliance and Reporting: Assist with preparing and submitting employment practice reports and ensuring compliance with regulations, via Mass DUA/DETMA/MTC. Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures along with federal, state and local laws and regulations. Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
HR Program Management: Ensure HR programs such as payroll, benefits and safety are administered properly. Educate employees on program offerings, assist with program enrollment and inquiries. Liaison with employees and managers related to staffing, performance, professional development, benefits, compensation and employee and labor relations.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience in a Human Resources environment, a Bachelor’s degree, and proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and other web-hosted services coupled with exemplary interpersonal, oral and written skills. Experience with TriNet or other similar cloud-based HRIS is preferred. Understanding of HR laws and regulations, especially as it pertains to compensation and benefits, hiring/terminating is also preferred.
